In Twilio, register your Brand and a Campaign (A2P 10DLC). Approval runs a few business days to ~2 weeks.
Once approved, paste your Account SID, Auth Token and number below and press Test.

Until it clears, texting stays off and nothing breaks. Reminders and confirmations simply wait.
